As Robert Burns said in To a Mouse “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”
We had planned to open on Sunday, but for the safety and health of our patrons, we’re going to be closed for a little while longer. The flooring construction is loud and there is a lot of dust and other irritants in the air along with heavy furniture in places it doesn’t normally go.
Why are we getting this done right now? Our carpet was old and very dirty (22 years of lots of foot traffic) to the point that even water spilled on it stained it horribly. We have our first annual Literary Arts Fair in May and Summer Reading Program from May to July and we wanted to put our best foot forward with a nice, clean library atmosphere. We also had to work with the flooring people to fit into their schedule.
We know it is an inconvenience for many, but we ask for your patience and understanding. Our staff is working hard to provide curbside and get things back in order as fast as possible. We’ve had a couple of unforeseen setbacks with the floor not being as level as needed and with some cracks that had to be fixed.
We’re getting your library back together ASAP and can’t wait to show off the new floor!
We're hoping to open up early April, but only parts of the library. The installation will still be ongoing, so it may be a little loud.
Please note that there will be no curbside service on Sunday, March 31st.
The Boulder City Library is happy to announce that we were voted the "Best Community Resource" in the Best of Boulder City awards. We just wanted to say THANK YOU to the Boulder City community for voting for us. We've been your hometown library for 80 years and look forward to working with the Boulder City community for many more!
