You can apply for a Boulder City Library Card if you...
If you don't meet the residency and ID requirements, you are welcome to borrow from our paperback and DVD Swaps and can use other print materials within the Library. Public computers and WIFI are also available.
Patrons can stop by the service desk to fill out a form to receive a library card. You must present a valid photo ID in order to sign up for a library card. If the ID doesn't have your current local address on it, you must provide proof of address such as:
A full-service library card allows access to our physical and online resources. Please note that if you do not live in Boulder City, not all online resources may be available. Check with your local library to see what online resources may be offered.
The director of the agency must sign the application indicating the agency will accept financial responsibility for the materials checked out on the card. The agency will be held responsible for lost materials and late fees and will be subject to the same circulation policies as individuals.
Schools may be eligible if the principal, who has budget authority for the school, signs the application indicating the school will be financially responsible for the materials checked out on the card.
Agency library cards expire annually and a new application must be submitted yearly.
Temporary library cards will be issued for people living in the area for at least one month with proof. Cards will be set to expire on "leave" date.
eCards are for patrons living in the local area that may not be eligible for a full-service library card. eCards can only access our online resources and are valid for one year.
Please note that if you do not live in Boulder City, not all online resources may be available. eCards can be requested by filling out the form on our website.
If you have an email on file, you can reset your pin by clicking here.
If you're unsure if you have an email on file or don't receive an email, please stop into the library and we can get you a new pin.
If you never set up a pin, leave the pin blank when logging into the catalog with your library card number. You will be directed to set up a pin on the next screen.
Library cardholders can check out up to 50 physical items at a time. These limits are for Boulder City Library items, other library districts have different limits. Please ask a staff member if you have any questions.
eResources have different limits. Please check the help section of the database for limits.
Library patrons will be assessed overdue fines and replacement fees for late, damaged, or lost items according to the Fines and Fees Schedule. No overdue fines are charged for youth items. However, if the items are not returned, a bill for the items, including a processing fee and a possible collection agency fee will be issued.
These are charges in addition to the full cost of the item if specialty items are damaged, lost,
stolen, or otherwise unreturned.

We do accept some items for donation at the Boulder City Library. This is not a guarantee the item will be put into the collection. Most items end up in book sales. Items will be accepted Monday-Friday during normal library hours. We do not accept donations on the weekend due to staff constraints. You can drop donations off at the staff door on the side of the building by the recycling and trash bins. Ring the bell to alert staff.
For other types of donations, including large monetary donations please contact the Library Director.
We do take book donations from local authors to put in our Local Author area. The item must pass a review process before it will be entered in the collection. Processing can take some time as we have many items to process and most local author donations must be processed from scratch.
